We hope you like it! IGN AU: How much freedom do you have in introducing new weapons and abilities for the Predators? Can you tell us about anything new that you've added for this game? Tim Jones: We have stuck pretty closely to the weapons and abilities established in the movies while introducing some new ones based on those the new movie has brought to the table - including dual Shoulder Cannons and the hand-held Plasma Cannon. Early on in development, the Strauss Brothers were kind enough to give us some of their valuable time so we could pick their brains and view an early cut of the movie - this really helped with visualising many elements of the world we were making a game from, and was a big geeky thrill too! The game soundtrack is, inspired by the soundtracks of the classic movies, and designed so that we can dynamically trigger it according to the atmosphere that is required for any given sequence. We also were able to utilize some of the original sound effect files that have been used as the basis for the sound in the movie. You get an entirely different ending in our gameā¦ IGN AU: Have you had much access to assets or talent from the film for this project? Will the film's score or sound effects be used for instance? How about cutscenes from the film? Tim Jones: The studios were really helpful in providing us with hundreds of high-resolution production photos of the movie, which proved to be invaluable for reference. That sounds scary, but this was a really fun opportunity for us to visualise some new areas, populate them with Aliens, and then lay waste to them! :) There are also some key story differences between our game and the movie because Fox didn't want the entire plot given away before people see the film at the cinema. We had to work within strict confines to remain consistent with the movie and everything we did had to be approved by the studio. Fox is very protective of their franchise and take great care to make sure it is treated properly.

IGN AU: As an "interactive extension to the film", how does the game tie in to the upcoming film? Are you essentially seeing the events of the film from the perspective of the Predator? Does that give you a lot of freedom to go your own way? Tim Jones: In order to expand the experience enough to deliver a full game's worth of levels and environments, we naturally had to expand what is, in some cases, only briefly glimpsed in the movie.

That said, I think we have developed an intuitive solution that allows the player to rotate the camera manually using the L and R buttons and also lock on to their target by pressing the L and R buttons together.

Tim Jones: No other mobile platform has the power to deliver the kind of detailed graphics and sound to effectively convey the full Aliens versus Predator experience on the move! IGN AU: How about unique weaknesses? Has it been difficult, for instance, finding the right control set for the game? Tim Jones: It has been a challenge to come up with a control system for a third-person action game that doesn't rely on the use of a second stick for controlling the camera.
